PhD students must obtain permission from their advisor to pursue a graduate certificate. If you have an SGA, the SGA will cover the cost of tuition for a course taken toward a graduate certificate program if the following three conditions are met: (1) You do not exceed 12 semester hours per term, (2) The course(s) taken toward a graduate certificate program is also required for your MS or PhD program, and (3) If the course(s) taken toward the graduate certificate program are not on the approved list of courses for your MS or PhD program, you may submit a Petition to request that they be allowed to count toward your MS or PhD program. If the course is approved to count toward your MS or PhD program, the tuition will be covered if you hold an SGA the term you complete the course.
